Transition
Acrylic on canvas 100cm*100cm.
This painting called ‘transition’ symbolises a subtle passage between two worlds. It was created at the same time as I was writing an extract from my second book, ‘Un clochard céleste’. Here is a fragment: ‘Death is merely a change of domicile, perhaps even a liberation. When a child settles on earth, death is already settling inside him to disintegrate him. If we are afraid of death, perhaps we should consider that we are afraid of living through the same link that unites these not-so-different opposites. If we don't die for everything that is dark, crazy and disordered, how can we live for everything that is organised, gentle and luminous? Life and death always work together, in one way or another. So, to taste life, let's touch death. Death is not only physical, it is spiritual. What a horror to live in a body whose spirit does not animate it in a poignant way. It's a good thing death exists, perhaps it brings us back to life. Maybe today's old people will be tomorrow's babies. Fear is the result of a lack of knowledge and confidence. Death is the reward at the end of the race, it is an age at which we have a place among the brightest.’
